Free Tutoring and Research Assistance
The following information applies to all tutoring
sessions:
Open
to Elementary, Middle, and High School students.
Sessions
are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please
call
the reference desk in advance to sign up at (949)
830-7100
ext
5105. Be sure to leave your name, school, and
phone
number.
Sign-up
sheets are available at the library's Adult
Reference
Desk.
Students
should come prepared with questions, their textbook,
a
pencil, paper, and any other materials needed.
Tutoring
sessions
focus on learning general topics rather than
completing
specific
homework assignments.
There
is no charge for this service.
Chemistry
Tutoring
Mondays, 6:30PM - 8:30PM
Study Room F
Library volunteer
and retired chemical engineer, Bob Kylander, is
available to help students with chemistry.
Math Tutoring
Tuesdays, 6:30PM - 8:30PM
Study Room F
Math tutoring is
provided by library volunteer Don Volz, a retired
engineer. His broad experience includes tutoring
college math through college algebra. He is
interested in helping elementary, middle and high
school students with math. If needed, Don can
also tutor students who need assistance with Physics
and Algebra II.
Algebra Tutoring
Wednesdays, 6:30PM - 8:30PM
Study Room F
Help is on hand for
students who have questions about Pre- Algebra or
Algebra I. Those who need help with Algebra II
should see our Tuesday night math tutor. Mission Viejo Library offers free,
one-on-one algebra tutoring with library volunteer
and retired math teacher Keith Jorgensen.
Jorgensen invites students who need help learning
specific algebra topics to join him for short
tutoring sessions.
