Strategic
Plan for the Library - "The Pathway to Providing
Exceptional Library Service"
On Monday, November 19, 2001,
the Mission Viejo City Council approved the
Mission
Viejo Library's Strategic Plan, "The Pathway to Providing Exceptional
Library Service."
The underlying purpose of
the Strategic Plan is that it the document be used to guide library
staff in making the best decisions possible about library services and
programs while making the best possible use of resources. And, by doing
so, the Mission Viejo Library will become the educational and cultural
center of the community - the repository of the past and the information
portal of the future.
The Strategic Plan, which
was funded by the Friends of the Mission Viejo Library,
identifies four strategic goals:
 |
Relationships Within the Community
Encourage the public's validation of the Library's importance in the
community. |
 |
Services and the Delivery of Service
As funding allows, expand library services and programs commensurate
to community needs and increase/improve access to information about
these services to the community. |
 |
Technology
Deploy technological resources that enable the Mission Viejo Library
to fulfill the research and information needs of the community. |
 |
Funding
Expand and enhance innovative library services and programs by pursing
grants and additional fundraising measures. |
Each strategic goal is accompanied
by objectives and activities. Mission Viejo Library staff, City of Mission
Viejo staff, and community members and volunteers will be working to
accomplish the goals which will be regularly reviewed and updated.
