Letter to Teachers

Dear Teacher,

Help us to serve you and your students better

Notify us of upcoming class assignments.  If advance notice is given,
we can be better prepared to provide help to more students through
the purchase of additional copies or titles, location of articles, etc.

Click here to send us an assignment information form now!

Assign broad and flexible topics.  The greater the number of
students given the assignment and/or the more qualifications placed
on the assignment, the harder it may be for us to help your students
locate the required number of resources.  Broad or flexible
assignments allow us to offer the best variety of information.
When requiring students to choose from a reading list, please have
more titles on the list than students in the class.  Other classes,
other schools, or other interested readers may have already
borrowed the titles on your list.

Before making a class assignment which will involve library use, call
and give us the opportunity to alert you to the availability of
materials in our library.  We can also make specific circulating
materials "Reference" for a short time to enable all students to find
and use those items at the library.

Encourage your students to write down the assignment and bring it
to the library if you do not have it written for them.

Phone at least two weeks in advance if you would like to visit the
library with your students.  We can have extra staff on hand to help
with your visit.

Encourage students to do their own illustrations or accept
photocopying where illustrations are part of an assignment.

This can help reduce the unfortunate problem of pictures, maps,
diagrams, etc. being cut from books.  The Library charges 12 cents per page for black and white photocopies and printing from the
Internet.

Please let us know if there are other ways we can help your students. Call or email the at (949) 830-7100, extension 5107 for more information.
