Irvine Valley College Community Education: Offers two 6-week online computer classes for Macintosh users: 101 Tips for iMAC and MAC (all operating systems) and Working with your OS X iMAC and Macintosh. Current offerings start in May, June and July 2006 and cost $89.00 for each course.

Macintosh User Groups

Leisure World [Laguna Woods] Macintosh Users Group: Provides meetings, and offers monthly classes and special interest group workshops. Annual membership is $15.00 for Leisure World residents and $20.00 for non-residents.

North Orange County Computer Club, Macintosh Special Interest Group (SIG): Provides monthly meetings, product presentations, and computer assistance. Annual membership is $35.00/year, but you can attend a general meeting for free.

Orange Apple Computer Club of Orange County: MAC user group that meets the first Saturday of every month (except for January) at Orange Coast College. Annual membership is $45.00, but your first meeting is free.

Free Macintosh Web Tutorials

A Beginner’s Guide to the MAC: Presented by MacOptions, this online tutorial acquaints new MAC users with the OS 8.9 and OS 9 operating systems.

Learning to Use Your Macintosh Most Effectively: Although published to assist teachers, this site offers beginner and intermediate level tutorials suitable for all MAC users.

Macintosh Introduction: Published by the Department of Computer Science at The University of Rhode Island, this online tutorial provides intermediate level instruction on using a MAC system. It requires users already be familiar with how to point, click, move, and resize windows. 

MacWindows Tutorials: This site provides instruction on how to use MAC operating systems and Windows operating systems together. It is geared towards users already working at an intermediate level on MAC systems.

Apple Works 6 Tutorials: AppleWorks 6 combines word processing, page layout, painting, spreadsheet, database, and presentations into one easy application and allows users to incorporate text, spreadsheets, digital photos, images, sounds, and movies in a single document.
